Thank you

Thank you from Scott

Just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me in the 2015 Election. It was always going to be tough considering I was a new candidate, pleased we managed to increase the Labour vote even in the national climate. We have also managed to break the Libdem lie that only they can beat the Tories and voting Labour is a wasted vote, the results show that clearly isn’t the case anymore. The Tory candidate had 10yrs of campaigning but I have something now to build on.

I will return to my role as Business Chair of Northumberland County Council, Chair of Northumberland’s Health and Wellbeing Board and all the other things I do. I am proud to be an elected representative to my wonderful local community of Druridge Bay, watching the ballot boxes for Hadston, Widdrington, Amble, Broomhill, Lynemouth and Acklington made me feel humbled, the local support was amazing. Clearly those people who knew me voted because they know locally I do a good job. I need to work hard now to convince others across a wider area that I would work hard for them and be a good representative.

I will regroup with my Labour colleagues at County Hall on Monday and we will work together to see how we can defend Northumberland and the most vulnerable against what will be a savage assault form the Conservatives. We’ve already had £140million taken from Northumberland while Conservative councils received an increase so this can only get worse and we must try and manage that.

I would also like to thank the Fire Brigade Union, Unison, UCATT and USDAW who all supported me on behalf of their members. I would also like to send huge thanks to my agent Ian Fleming and constant support from Anthony on what has been a mentally and physically testing challenge.

Thank you to all those who believed in me and supported me on polling day.

Best wishes,
