Students invited for Democracy Week

Democracy Week

Last year Cllr Dickinson invited Secondary School Students from across Northumberland to take part in a day event at County Hall. This year he has written to them again inviting secondary schools from across the County to send a delegation of students to participate in the day.

A range of activities are planned including fun electronic voting in the Council Chamber, tour of Civic Rooms, Question and Answer sessions with senior Councillors and most importantly lunch.

Last year many schools participated and this year we hope to attract more.

Cllr Dickinson said: “Cllr Simpson (deputy business chair) and I often discuss the fun we had with students last year, we anticipate some interesting and challenging questions from students and always take something away from the day. We are confident that the students will have a fun and interesting day about the importance of Democracy and how it works in Local Government”
