Proud of local people who won Best of Northumberland Awards

Best of Northumberland Awards is a fantastic Awards process for the people of Northumberland to be nominated and awarded for who they are and what they sometimes do in our communities. The Johnson Press who own the Berwick Advertiser, Northumberland Gazette, Morpeth Herald and News Post Leader ask their readers for nominations and then judge them to find the winners.

This year I was delighted to see local people on the shortlist, people I know well, people I talk to daily, someone I went to school with (Gemma Little) who is an inspiration turning a negative in her life to something remarkably positive.

I was delighted that these two(in the picture), Wendy and Josh won awards.

Wendy helped Chris who many if not all of us in Druridge Bay and beyond know well, he had to move away from Hadston when his parents moved, he wasn't happy and wanted to return. Chris has learning needs and Wendy plus many other members of our community came together and donated items for the flat Wendy helped Chris get. She agreed to look after him and support him as she has done for some 20+ years anyway. It's made such a big difference to Chris and his quality of life. Well done to Wendy, Chris and everyone who helped. I could go on writing about this there is so much to tell, but there is a small overview.

Now on to Josh.......

Again popular person in our community many people know him, lots of parents know him working with their children either at first schools training them or in the tiny woods academy with him and Jamie. Josh has worked hard to overcome some of his own needs and thrives on working with young people and seeing them achieve. Together Jamie and him have built up a successful Academy for football that is loved by so many.
