Northumberland councillors and staff to tweet about #OurDay

Councillors and staff from Northumberland County Council are taking part in a tweetathon today, using the hashtag #OurDay as part of a national campaign.

Organised by the Local Government Association, which represents more than 370 councils in England and Wales, #OurDay encourages local authority staff to spread the message about the hundreds of services councils provide.

Coun Scott Dickinson, business chairman at Northumberland County Council, said: “Northumberland County Council delivers more than 700 services that are focused on helping our communities. These services have a direct impact on the daily lives of residents across the county, yet many of them are things people may not even be aware of.

“#OurDay is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the positive impact our services have on the community, while also recognising council employees’ commitment to public service.”

Last year, 8,000 people got involved in #OurDay, sending more than 16,000 tweets and this year is expected to be even bigger as Northumberland County Council joins thousands of other local government workers showcasing a typical council day.
