Chevington Remembrance Sunday Service

Today's Remembrance Sunday Service

Today the Remembrance Service took place as usual at our beautiful St Johns Church followed by a service at the War Memorial. It was great to see so many of the community members there with cadets and others taking part in the event. I was proud to be laying the wreath on behalf of Northumberland County Council and represent the Council at the event. Sanding alongside Cllr Reay Vice Chair of East Chevington Parish Council, just one of the Councils in my ward who work incredibly hard for local people.

The Vicar in the service gave a powerful sermon, one that brought attention to your mind about those who sacrificed life, those who are suffering today and how we act as individuals. Encouraging communities to work together, support one another and not be out for what you can get. She touched on some political issues of the day too like the Welfare State and support that people within our communities need. It was very powerful and well thought out.

Thanks to the Council, Cadets and Church for all the effort putting the event together.
