BUSINESS CHAIR WELCOMES NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL THROWING ITS SUPPORT BEHIND THIS YEAR’S BUSINESS AWARDS

Cllr Scott Dickinson Business Chair at Northumberland County Council welcomes the Councils support of the awards saying "Northumberland Businesses should be celebrated and supported, they are a vital part of Northumberland and we encourage businesses to come to Northumberland. The Council is committed  to Business and has a range of support available to businesses. Working with ARCH the Councils Development Company many new start up's and support for existing businesses has been offered."

HE ALSO URGED PEOPLE TO NOMINATE BUSINESSES FOR THE CATEGORIES 

New businesses are an essential part of the county’s economy and an incredibly important driver for growth, and the council, which is sponsoring this year’s Best New Business award, is calling on businesses in the county to enter the Northumberland Business Awards, which celebrate and recognise business excellence in the county.

The awards encompass 12 different categories: New Business (under two years); Social Responsibility Award; Apprentice/Trainee of the Year; Employer of the Year; Best Green Business; Exporter of the Year, Creative Industries Award; Innovation Award; Leisure Award; Large and Small Business of the Year; and Lifetime Achievement Award.

The winners will be announced at Linden Hall on Thursday, November 12.

Coun Allan Hepple, the county council’s cabinet member for economic growth, said: “Entrepreneurs setting up as first-time business and sole traders, partnerships and other enterprises looking to expand on their current success can help us all through their hard work – by boosting growth, through innovation, and by providing new local services and products.

“Northumberland County Council has a five-year strategy based on our vision to deliver prosperity in Northumberland founded on quality local jobs and connected communities.

“The ambition is to support the creation of 10,000 new jobs in the county up to 2031 and new businesses can make a massive difference to our collective success.

“We want to support and recognise new businesses and are delighted to be sponsoring this award to highlight the huge contribution that new businesses are making in Northumberland.”

The Northumberland Business Awards are organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the News Post Leader, Morpeth Herald and Northumberland Gazette, and Tweeddale Press, publisher of the Berwick Advertiser.

The categories for the 2015 event are: New Business (under two years); Social Responsibility Award; Apprentice/Trainee of the Year; Employer of the Year; Best Green Business; Exporter of the Year, Creative Industries Award; Innovation Award; Leisure Award; Large and Small Business of the Year; and Lifetime Achievement Award.

The closing date for entries is Monday, October 26.
